What is synchronised swimming?

Let's quote wikipedia, our modern time bible: 'Synchronized swimming (often abbreviated to Synchro) is a hybrid form of swimming, dance and gymnastics, consisting of swimmers (either solos, duets, trios, combos, or teams) performing a synchronized routine of elaborate moves in the water, accompanied by music.'

But enough with the big words! Synchronised swimming is a very fun and challenging sport. It will teach you to feel completely at ease in the water, be able to orient yourself in any position; it will develop your strength and flexibility, but also your breathing and coordination. Without realising it, you will develop strong abs, arms, and legs in no time!

Synchronised swimming is also, and maybe before all, a team sport. It will allow you to meet new people and share a lot with them. In order to do a nice routine, you will have to learn to adapt to what you team mates are doing in the water and be able to correct their mistakes as they will correct yours when need be.

Beginners: Welcome!

If you like playing with water, dancing, gymnastics, and would like to put everything together, synchronised swimming is just the sport for you! No need to be an amazing swimmer, not even a good one, just be able to float and we will teach you the rest! Visit our training page for more details about the way our trainings are organised.

Synchronised swimming is a challenging sport, but starting is something everyone can do. Every year we teach complete beginners how to do synchro, and all of them improved to a level they would not have expected! Most of them engage in competitions after 3 or 4 months of synchro!

We have a talented coach who could teach anyone how to do synchro. She is the main reason why many beginners manage to reach competition level! We generally do Combo routines which means that all levels can be merged. In a combo 10 swimmers swim according to their level, we have bits in which everyone is included and then trios and solos bits where our most experience and willing swimmers shine on their own. This comes in quite handy for beginners to recover their breaths or to be ready preparing the next lift or cadence in the routine ;).

Most importantly, if you do not want to compete but just want to have fun, this is completely fine, most of our members practice synchro for leisure and we would not want it any other way! It means we have possibilities for everyone to enjoy, whether in a competitive way or in a purely fun way, and let's be honest, that makes it much more fun for all of us!

Experienced swimmers: Welcome to you too!

Whatever your experience might be you will definitely enjoy your time with us!

Some of our swimmers have practiced synchro since 8 years old without interruptions, others did 5 or 6 years before stopping for many years and then coming back to it when entering imperial. So don't be shy, if you haven't practiced for a long time you will find in this club the best opportunity to come back to your earlier level; and if you have never stopped you will be happy to be able to keep improving with us. If you like competition and have enough time to give, we have a competition team that competes in the French national university championship as well as in London and Brussels. If you'd rather practice for your own leisure, no worries, most of our team does not participate in the competition, just enjoying trainings and preparing for small shows at the end of the year or at Christmas.
