NOTE FOR LEAGUE MATCH PLAYERS / CAPTAINS: Please read the below carefully and note any e-mails from captains, as typically swipe card access is required to enter buildings on campus – kindly refer to e-mails and coordinate via phone when possible.
The Imperial College Chess Club meets every Monday evening from 1830 to 2130, typically in Room 741 of the Blackett Building at Imperial College. Details of alterations to plans will be communicated via the mailing list.
League matches will typically be played in Blackett 630
Directions for club nights are as follows:
Start from the concourse outside Sherfield.
Proceed to the far end, enter the automatic doors and turn right.
Then proceed down this corridor:
Pass through the door at the end and continue through the partially obscured doorway to the right as below.
Don’t take the elevators out of frame to the left!
Continue down this corridor…
… and take these elevators to the seventh floor (or the sixth floor for matches):
Take the corridor to the left at the far end of the room below:
You’ll find us in the last door on the right.
For matches, the external entrance to the Huxley building is on Queens Gate (past the Natural History Museum and before the turning into Prince Consort Road). Swipe card access is typically required to enter. If you are playing a match at Imperial, a member of the chess committee should be present to let you in.
The closest tube stations are South Kensington and Gloucester Road (both approx. 10 minute walk). The address is:

FOR CONGRESSES AND TOURNAMENTS (Imperial College Chess Congress, London Team Rapidplay etc.), these events are typically in the Imperial College Union (Beit Quadrangle / Imperial College Union Prince Consort Road, SW7 2BB) – once you walk through the archway, walk straight ahead into the main Union building and proceed up the stairs / lift to the first floor.
