Dear Reader,

First of all, thanks for leafing through the virtual pages of the LIVIC website. It’s my first edition as Editor, so I’ve been feeling the pressure a bit. To ease the tension, I’ve included a picture of me holding a koala, which was probably the smiliest I’ve ever been or will ever be. Please take a moment to enjoy the warmth and happiness that even a picture of these cuddly creatures instills in anyone capable of emotion.

If you’re new to Imperial; welcome! Here begins the time of your life (mainly because after this you’ll spend the rest of it chained to a...

The Final Time You Will See This Beautiful Man
The Final Time You Will See This Beautiful Man

Hey you! Yeah you! Peering at the editorial like it's some sort of venomous snake, this publication doesn't bite you know. Who are you anyway? Why you ask? Well depending on who you are determines who I am. If you're a LIVIC aficionado who simply can't control themselves around me then I'm Peter, nice to meet you. If you're a potential employer researching me online, then Peter's away on holiday and I'm standing in for him, I'm known for how I generate ten jumps.

Friends, allies and enemies, the year draws to a close and it is well and truly...

Hello? Are you there? Hopefully you are not too hung over from the post elections pub crawl. What’s that? You missed it? Too much work? You’re having an absolute laugh! It’s silly o’clock in the morning and I’m here, a man of the people, writing LIVIC for your thirsty souls. There will be mistakes, there will be drunken errors; but how are we meant to learn without first failing first? Ok, enough poetry for one decade, on to LIVIC! This issue is pretty much reviewing all the awesome stuff that has been happening since Valentine’s Day, all the events you...

Guess Who's Back?

I haven't moved from this position since the first issue.

We are back! Well I am back, it’s just me up here in LIVIC Tower’s Editorial Room. There’s room for one more though, so if you’re free Friday afternoon? No? Gah, your loss! Anyway, it has been quite a while since the last issue, around 63 days, 1512 hours, 90720 minutes or 5443200 seconds. Not that I’ve been counting, you have though right? You haven’t had anything better to do! Don’t kid yourself. So after such a long hiatus what do we have in store for you?

We kick things off with an in depth look at being a...

I haven't moved from this position since the first issue.

It’s the last LIVIC of 2013, and it’s safe to say we’re going out with an absolutely huge bang! As the festive season fast approaches, coursework deadlines looming and exams over the horizon LIVIC is here to quell those fears and instill you with some happiness. There’s pros and cons when it comes to the end of term, one of the articles in this issues covers the positives about the christmas break, but there’s a huge game-changing negative. Two whole months without LIVIC! As if exams weren’t depressing enough, “but Peter, I can’t...

Deep Inside The Depths of Peter's Mind

Me
Me

It's 0230 in the morning, I'm in the furthest corner of London known to man after The Four Bridges Pub Crawl and I am attempting to write LIVIC and, rather unsuccessfully, trying to play GTA Online, which looks like it will never work! The turn out was something Brunel himself would have been proud of! From freshers to undergraduates to PhDs, all the way up to graduates who offered to hold my clothes, marvellous. We absolutely tore up Millennium Bridge, the amount of flesh on show was the stuff of legend, and it would take something special next year to top that! That bridge was 370m...

A Message From The Editor

Hello everyone, as you may have cleverly deduced from the title I am the editor of LIVIC this year, 5 points to Hufflepuff! My name’s Peter Nugent and I’ll be in my third year, interesting fact, so is all but one of our committee. We’ll get in to them later, in a totally non-sexual way. Maybe we could get in to a few, that Events and Sports Officer is mighty fine…

Looks like we got a bit off track there. Let’s talk a little about me, I’m a huge football fan, so you’ll probably find football sprinkled around LIVIC, maybe even a full blown article if you’re lucky. I’m also a fan of...

Hello again, I hope you are all suffering as much as I am under the burdens of coursework, work or whatever particular stresses you have brought upon yourselves. This is because I am unpleasant and have not yet resolved my inner problems and am lashing out against theworld to seek some sort of revenge. It is also because I’m not sure what else goes on in the life of the students and staff in the Civil Engineering Department at Imperial College, so I have no idea what else to write about.

This month’s issue looks at some of the fantastic work that is being...
