Gaming sites

Karne and Lorna - Mar 2001

There are dozens if not hundreds of gaming sites, these are a few we read and use from time to time. If you've got any more suggestions please e-mail lorna@sulkyblue.co.uk.

Voodoo Extreme

Veteran site that's a little too manic for my liking. There's one very long page of news things which are somewhat confusing for new people. There's also articles and lots of well populated forums.

A rather more balanced site that reviews hardware as well as games. Lots of reviews, previews, articles, links and even a shop.

SpyGuy

A network of planet x sites. There are about three dozen of these sits with resources, reviews and cheats for whichever game it is. They also have news, reviews and cheats to over 1000 PC games.

Planet Unreal

This is the main 'portal' site for Unreal Tournament news and maps. Updates regularly so visit often. btw, there are planet sites for most major games (e.g. planetquake, planetstarcraft etc).
U4E - homesite for the very cool UT mod - Unreal 4 Ever
Mod's and Mutators - lists all available UT mods and mutators with reviews.

Poly Count

Huge archive with models and skins for UT, Q2/3 and HL amongst others.

Lion Games

The official page for Black and White, a cross between Populus and Tamagotchi (according to Michael). Seems to be a very funky god game with lots of clever little things in, like checking the web for weather reports and reproducing them in your world. Go buy this game!

The Spoiler Centre

This site has a collection of walkthroughs for lots and lots of games. Walkthroughs are written by different people so the quality varies wildly. They all seem to be text based so you may find them a little difficult to follow.

Happy Puppy

Happy Puppy is another general game site, fairly happy and bouncy. It has news, reviews, cheats and walkthroughs for many different platforms.

The official site for Sierra games including Half Life, Pharaoh, Kings Quest and other stuff. Has walkthroughs,

Frog

The creators of funky games like Theme Park/Hospital, Dungeon Keeper and Populus. They've got quite a few downloads and add ons but I was getting quite irritated by incessant querying of whether to use Shockwave or not.
